The Deep Fryed Acoustiblasters are a group of guys who play music on instruments made primarily out of wood, nickel and steel. All of the instruments have strings on them which vibrate upon being plucked. When our band visits your town, you better come see us or you might just miss something huge. You may or may not be interested in who comprises the aforementioned group, if you are not do not read the forthcoming information.
John Gates is uncommonly known as the Optimator. He, like the rest of the band, hails from the state of Indiana. His residence is in Columbus where he maintains many, many, vehicles and turns mandolins into splinters with his deadly mandolin chops! (Johnny Danger) John plays the songs that make the young girls cry. His silky smooth voice is as crisp and refreshing as a soda pop on a very hot day while stranded in the desert.
Dave Frye is our statuesque, stately, sasquatch like banjo shredder. He can play it soft and purty or down and dirty. And at about 6 feet 5 inches tall and 320 lbs he could probably kick your ass! Dave comes from Mulberry, Indiana a town similar in name to the one featured on the Andy Griffith show (Mayberry). Dave’s powerful baritone vocals are the bedrock for all of our carefully sculpted vocal harmonies.
Scott Nelson is the man responsible for holding down the foundation of the music on his wheeled stand up bass. His powerhouse voice could knock down walls of granite with its depth and strength. We will have more info on Scott as it becomes available on my Blackberry.
Harvey Mosteller (the guy writing all of this garbage) is a very handsome, articulate, humble individual. Okay, now in first person. I play music as much as possible and teach a handful of talented students on weeknights. I play numerous instruments but primarily focus on guitar. If you are interested in guitar or banjo lessons e-mail me and we can try to work something out. I am from Indianapolis and reside near Avon. I used to play in various local heavy metal bands but decided to get into bluegrass for all the money and babes circa 1999. After realizing that there was no money and very few babes my psyche was already consumed by this thing that we call bluegrass.
Steve Goodman, Fiddler and former city slicker, loves the feeling of Bluegrass harmonies and down home good feeling. He’s originally from Los Angeles and now lives in Indiana for over 10 years. Classically trained as a youngen, he then moved up to Jazz. And now he’s moved up again to Bluegrass. Welcome home Goodman.
